It was a sparkling event, and we were seated with our pals at the Morecambe winter Gardens and Totally Local Lancaster (Sparkle team member Vik also helps run TLL).

In the end, Baylight lost out on the Visitor Attraction award to Vik and her team at TLL, but we were thrilled for them regardless (next year it’s ours!!).

Our stalwart Chair, Sian however, fared better and deservedly walked away with the award for Unsung Hero. Sian has had a rich and varied career with over 45 years in manufacturing and retail, and as a consultant in tourism and the creative industries. Since retiring she has worked tirelessly for the arts in the district for many years, and all as an unpaid volunteer. Sian was a founding member of the Morecambe Artist Colony where she helped to bring the Tide and Tide Bell to Morecambe among other things and is Chair of the Venus & Cupid Arts Trust. She is a member of the Morecambe BID steering group and a past trustee at The Dukes. Well done Sian!!

In fact, our entire table fared very well in the end as Professor Vanessa Toulmin, Chair of the Morecambe Winter Gardens Preservation Trust walked away with not one but two awards, winning both Ambassador of the Year and Fundraiser of the Year!
